Pike Community Hospital's American Heart Association franchise recently helped certify troops with the 285th Area Support Medical Company in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. ACLS is the next step used after CPR for patients whose heart and breathing have stopped due to illness or trauma. .
Class targets first-time homebuyers
As the time draws closer for Manatee County's State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program funds to become available, the Manatee Coalition for Affordable Housing wants to help first-time homebuyers prepare. Free homeownership training classes and pre-purchase credit counseling classes will be held 8:15 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 22 and 29 at 319 Sixth Ave. W., Bradenton. All around Atlanta, Vick's likeness and namesake were everywhere. From billboards to posters, from jerseys to hats, from Air Tran to Nike, Vick was once much more than the flavor of the week, month or year. He was the face of an entire franchise. Yes, the landscape certainly has changed. Fans have been replaced by protesters, billboards and posters have been covered and removed, merchandise is hard to come by, and endorsement deals are things past.
